United States law, and the laws of the various states, prohibit your employer from making any decision in the workplace affecting you on the sole basis of your race, religious beliefs and practices, gender, color, ethnicity, age, health condition, and in some states your marital status and sexual orientation.
Perhaps you have been approached by your supervisor, promising a new promotion or job assignment, in return for sexual favors. It may be that you were passed over for a promotion, or even let go from your job, in favor of a younger person who was described to you as “more with the times.”
Some of you may even have been harassed on the job because of your skin color, your accent, or your reasonable requests to express your religious beliefs.
Discrimination and bias distract hardworking people from their jobs. You become unhappy, nervous, even scared to come to work each day.
